Make it Happen in 10 Minutes a Day

It always seems like there is never enough time, especially during the holidays. Life seems to continually move at a more frenetic pace, with more than ever to be done and less time than ever to actually do it. How can we ever “Do it all” – or at least reclaim time for some of those things that we truly long to achieve? This is the premise of Make it Happen in 10 Minutes a Day by Lorne Holden. The author proposes that by taking just ten minutes out of our day to work on a goal – which adds up to 60 HOURS per year – you can slowly, surely carve out time to make change in your life, be it for learning new skills or tackling cumbersome projects on your to-do list.

The book is a quick, easy read – in fact, the first suggested implementation of this system is to spend 10 minutes a day reading this book! I appreciate the encouraging and realistic manner in which this concept was presented. I often get irked with self-help books that outline all of these wonderful things that you “Should” do without taking reality into account; the whole point of this book is that Holden understands what it’s like to be short on the luxury of spare time. As a single mom, she began this 10-minute-a-day journey because she wanted to plant a garden and had literally no more than a few minutes available to work on it each day. When she slowly but surely ended up with a lovely garden, it was a turning point in her life. I found the book to be an encouraging read and think anyone who is struggling with stress and jam-packed holiday schedules might appreciate it!

  1. This is a great concept to take 10 minutes to actually work on a goal that we have set for ourselves. I might have to look for this book.

  2. The concept of making a few minutes isn’t new but having it in writing sure makes it more concrete. I may have a few peeps on my list that need to find this in their stocking 🙂

  3. I’d totally read this! I am a big believer in time management and not letting things get away from you. 10 mins a day can make such a big difference!
