You may recall our friends at Hobo Ninja from our 2012 Holiday Gift Guide, when we featured their Space Invaders Cake Mould. Since then, the fun has kept coming, and I recently had a chance to select a few more fun pieces to check out. The first one I picked out was this humorous mug:

I thought this Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug was quite amusing – the idea is that when you add hot water to the cup, the writing disappears, so you watch your civil liberties disappear over your morning cup of coffee. 😉 I thought this was a funny, very tongue-in-cheek idea; those on all points of the political spectrum are concerned about civil liberties vanishing, so to me it seemed like a joke that everyone could find funny for different reasons! You know, one of those “If you don’t laugh you’ll cry” things. 😉

Here’s how the mug looks right out of the box. Everything looks as it should, until you add hot water…

I never thought I would ever say this, but my only complaint is that ALL of my civil liberties didn’t disappear! 😉 Originally, the product page didn’t say much about the mug and so it just looked like everything disappeared once you added hot water. However, only certain amendments disappeared on mine, which made me think: Did I get a hilariously defective mug? Or did the makers have a specific point in mind rather than a general one? Looking at the current product description, I see now that the page has been updated and now says that only specific sections disappear, thus intending it to be more pointed than I originally expected. Now it’s even funnier to me to think that I was standing there wondering, “When are the rest of the amendments going to disappear?” Oh, what a crack-up! I am way too amused!

If you’d like a less inflammatory product, then check out these adorable Super Mario Socks! These super cute socks are knee-high with a classic green power-up mushroom over a stripey motif. I thought this was the greatest gift idea for any geeky game lover!

Totally sweet, right? The only real thing of note here is that, although these are one size and intended for ages 14+, they look really small to me – so keep that in mind when purchasing.
