Remington Pivot & Flex R-5130 Rotary Shaver Review

Remington Pivot & Flex R-5130 Rotary Shaver Whether a man in your life has a birthday coming up – Jai’s birthday is on March 13th – or if you just want to get a head start on Father’s Day gifts, it’s never a bad time to keep your eyes peeled for potential presents. Many women will tell you that their male relatives are hard to buy for, so I think it’s a good idea to shop year-round so you don’t get stuck in a last-minute pinch. Shavers are a classic “Guy” present, and I understand why – it’s a practical item that many men use every day.

I recently received the Remington Pivot & Flex R-5130 rotary shaver to review, but since I obviously don’t have a beard, I gave it to Jai and asked him to tell me what he thought. Remington describe the Pivot & Flex as a new line of shavers which utilize “proprietary pivot and flex technology, which allows the three flexing heads to independently rotate a full 360 degrees – delivering a stellar performance every time. The flexible neck pivots in all directions to create a more ergonomic shaving platform, as well as serve as a shock absorber to provide comfort and ease around sensitive, contoured areas like the chin and neck.” The shaver is cordless, and has worldwide voltage, which would come in handy the next time we go to England. This all sounds good to me – but what did Jai think of the Pivot & Flex? Here are his thoughts on the shaver:

  • He likes it overall, and will use it in the future.
  • He did find it to be very comfortable and easy on the skin, however he feels that this may come at the price of not getting as quick a shave as usual.
  • Jai thinks that the Remington is not quite as thorough as his other shaver, taking a few run-throughs to remove all hair. He says his skin has gotten used to his other electric razor over time, which does a quick and extensive removal of hair but is rougher on the skin.

For the right man, a nice shaver could make for a wonderful present. But ladies, make sure you do your research and know what kind of features your guy needs a shaver to have – otherwise you could end up with an expensive gift that does nothing but collect dust.

So tell me, readers: What do you get for the tricky-to-buy-for men in your life?

Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack Review

Walt Disney Records

Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack

Phineas and Ferb is a popular Disney Channel cartoon from the creators of Rocko’s Modern Life (Remember that?). I’ve never seen the show before, but apparently it’s well known for its musical segments, earning two Emmy nominations for songwriting in 2008. It’s no surprise, then, that the official Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack was recently released. This soundtrack is a cute collection of funny, catchy songs from the series. As with any good cartoon, the subject matter is bizarre, resulting in hilarious songs like the rap send-up “S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants”. There are other memorable songs on here, including the theme “Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day” (performed by Bowling For Soup), the rockin’ “Ready For The Bettys”, and of course the famous “Gitchee Gitchee Goo” – which I had heard previously, but didn’t know where it was from. If your kids enjoy Phineas and Ferb, they will surely love this!

Blast Pad Review

Growing Tree Toys

Growing Tree Toys offer a selection of educational toys that will entertain children and “Big kids” alike. They recently sent me a Blast Pad, a fun outdoors toy that launches foam missiles. Jai and I decided to take this down to the beach one sunny afternoon and see how it worked.

Blast Pad on the Beach

The Blast Pad comes with with a built-in handle for ease of carrying. The launcher folds out when in use and then neatly tucks back into the unit when not in use, making it easier to store.

The Blast Pad in Action!

Here is a shot of the Blast Pad mid-launch! The foam missiles propel quite high into the air – it was fun to watch them go up, up, and away. Watch the Blast Pad in action below:

I’m sure this goes without saying, but adult supervision is highly recommended for this toy! This product was provided as a courtesy of Growing Tree Toys for me to review. If you are a blogger, check out their Blog Sponsorship Program!

Sneak Peek: Dining Rooms Direct

Dining Rooms Direct

Last week, I reviewed a bird bath from “Teak, Wicker, and More”, a part of the CSN Network. CSN operates over 200+ specialized stores, offering everything from bar stools to luggage. I will be partnering with CSN Stores once again, this time to review a cutlery set by Reed & Barton from their kitchen outlet, Dining Rooms Direct. So watch this space for my thoughts – and in the meantime, you can check out my bird bath review here.
