The Mama Doni Band

Are you looking for the perfect CD to play during Chanukah celebrations this year? Then look no further! Chanukah Fever is a super fun album from Mama Doni, the lead singer/songwriter of The Mama Doni Band, bringing you “13 Macca-beats for the whole family”. And one lucky Contest Corner reader will win a copy of Chanukah Fever, so read on!

Chanukah Fever is festive album that delivers upbeat songs celebrating everything Chanukah. The cover of the album features Mama Doni in a white pantsuit à la John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, reaching her hand up to light the menorah. The record starts out in an appropriately disco fashion with the album’s funky title track, then takes us through a musical journey with songs incorporating everything from contemporary pop/hip-hop (“The Funky Gold Menorah”) to country-western (“Honey, This Ain’t Money!”) and Latin-inspired numbers (“La Vida Dreidel”). Mama Doni takes inspiration from a wealth of musical traditions on this disc, with influences from klezmer to reggae. This fun and unique record is the perfect way to commemorate the holiday and will be enjoyed by all ages!

  1. Quirky, funny, and always unpredictable, Doni’s music brings a fun new twist to Chanukah in this CD, as it ventures through dance beats, Latin pop, “Jewgrass” hoe-downs, and dazzling disco ditties to make latkes, dreidels and Yiddish expressions cooler than ever.
This sounds perfect for my daughter, I lived in Isreal for almost a year, and love to tell my daughter about it, but there is little music or culture me to show her being that I am not Jewish, this would be great for us to share 🙂

  2. i learned that they’ll be at 12/04/11 – Congregation Agudat Achim – (Schenectady, NY) 2:00pm

  3. Google follower and winner of the 2008 Simcha Award for “Inspiring Joy Through Music Award”

  4. Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the images on this blog loading?

I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog.
Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.

  5. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this
topic to be really something that I think I would never understand.

It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang
    of it!
