Holiday Gift Guide 2010: Cracker Barrel Review

The holiday season is a time of family, fun – and food! Whether you’re munching on appetizers at a holiday party or planning your Christmas day feast, food is an integral part of the season’s festivities. And just in time for the holidays, Kraft has introduced Cracker Barrel Limited Edition Holiday Reserve Cheese, perfect for all your festive gatherings. Our household loves cheese, so when the Family Review Network and Kraft Cracker Barrel invited me to sample these new flavors, I was more than happy to take them up on their offer!

We received two bricks of Cracker Barrel Limited Edition Holiday Reserve Cheese – Natural Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese and Natural Extra Sharp White Cheddar Cheese. One of my favorite ways to enjoy cheese is to serve it on top of Ritz crackers, so we sliced up the cheese and set out a tray of cheese and crackers to enjoy. You may recognize my serving tray from NOVICA! I love arranging a pretty platter, whether I’m serving guests or just putting it out for Jai and I to enjoy. It’s easy to create a “Picture-Perfect” cheese tray – just use a selection of cute plates and arrange the cheese with your choice of crackers. This would be a great way to serve a yummy, quick snack to visitors over the holidays!

These cheeses are rich and flavorful, and taste great both on crackers and alone. When Jai tasted the Sharp Cheddar Cheese, he told me that this was the first time that he’s had straight cheddar that he liked. He enjoys cheddar when it is used as an ingredient in cooking, but usually finds it too strong by itself. So he was surprised at how much he enjoyed this – the regular Cheddar was actually his favorite of the two, so that’s quite a compliment!

I enjoyed them both, but my personal favorite was the White Cheddar Cheese – I loved the sharp, delightful flavor.

Cracker Barrel Limited Edition Holiday Reserve Cheese would be a great addition to your holiday buffet. Serve it with a glass of red wine for an elegant dinner party starter, or with a selection of crackers for a delicious Christmas day appetizer. This cheese will only be in stores until January 1st, 2011, so get it while you can!
