I’m inspired by:

All of the women in rock n’ roll history like Joan Jett especially, who fought for respect as musicians and never stopped fighting even when society told them no because of their gender. I always remember their strength to help me find my own in hard times, and I tell myself that if they got through that, I can get through anything.

I realized I wanted to play music when:

I first got up on a stage. I’ve always had a passion for singing and a love for music, but I knew I wanted music to be my life when I got up on my first stage at 10 years old. For the first time, I really felt what it was like to be powerful and free. Already at such a young age, I had a definite goal of what and who I wanted to be. Not too many 10 year old kids gets to experience that.

Four songs you might find on my iPod:

“Paralyzer” by Finger Eleven, “Reality Mentality” by Joan Jett, “Complexes” by Tonight Alive, and “Death Valley” by Fall Out Boy. I usually always listen to the same few songs repeatedly that define what I happen to be experiencing and feeling at the time.

One word I would use to describe myself:

Fearless.

The best part of being a musician is:

Being able to express emotions into parts of people’s souls that words alone cannot reach. I think music is the most influential element in the world, and being able to create my own music and share it with the world makes me feel like I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Right now, I’m most excited about:

Tomorrow. I’m always excited about tomorrow. I’m constantly working on evolving and improving, and I love not knowing what great things will happen next. I’m also excited about defining myself and my sound more and more everyday! There is no greater feeling than coming out of a recording session or a performance and knowing you gave something that was entirely your own.

Something most people don’t know about me is:

Because I’m a rock artist, most people just assume that I’m rebellious and violent because of the stereo-type that rock music is destructive. In actuality, I love being serene and I’m super into staying healthy. I exercise regularly, eat clean, go outside, lay in the sun, and write because I think that it is really important to take care of your body and yourself.

One of my happiest moments was:

With my best friends at summer camp in New Hampshire on the East Coast where I grew up. Everything was so simple and we would just lay in the grass, look up at stars, and listen to music. All the harsh things in life didn’t seem to exist in those moments.

My music is:

A complete representation of who I am, what I go through, and what I believe in. My lyrics are always based off of personal experience, and the characteristics of my sound are the characteristics of myself. I am bold, strong, genuine, and stubborn, but I am also vulnerable. I also try to convey messages in hopes of changing society and my main goal in my music is to inspire people to not be afraid.

In ten years, I see myself:

Doing what I love and giving it all I’ve got. I don’t intend on slowing down anytime soon, and I can never be too sure about what will happen in 10 years, but I do know that it will involve music. If not touring around the world and making albums, I will definitely be running my own label and being involved in the music business. I can’t see myself dedicating my life to anything else.

  1. She is really talented – love her music. It’s cool that her lyrics are inspired from her personal experiences. That always makes music stronger.
