OK, this one isn’t “Wordless”, but I just couldn’t post pictures like this with no explanation. Yesterday afternoon, Grandma called us and said, “Have you looked out the window?” She could see a big black cloud of smoke coming from near the downtown area here in Seaside. As it turned out, a fire had broken out that morning. Three buildings were destroyed by the blaze, which is believed to have started in a laundromat from currently unknown causes. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while getting the fire under control, which they have been treated and released for according to this article at The Daily Astorian. After I dropped off a package at the post office yesterday, Jai and I walked down the street to see what had happened, which is when I took these photographs. Best wishes going out to everyone affected by this sad event.

  1. Hate to see the sad news… Fires are just horrible to recover from because they take everything. Even what’s left is ruined by smoke and smell.

  2. I know, fires are so devastating. I’ll keep everyone posted if there are any fundraisers or anything, we’re a pretty close-knit community so I imagine there will be.
