Nutrisystem Week 13 Weigh-In #NSNation

It’s lucky week 13 on Nutrisystem!

Beeb’s Weigh-In:

Beeb's Weight - Week 13

Starting Weight: 164.5 lbs
Week 13 weight: 148.6 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 15.9 lbs
Goal Weight: 110 lbs

My measurements for this week are 10.5″ on the arms, 40″ on the chest, 32″ on the waist, 40″ on the hips, and 20″ on the thighs. That’s .5″ down on the arms, .2″ up on the chest, .3″ down on the waist, and 1″ up on the thighs, with the hips remaining the same as last week.

Jai’s Weigh-In:

Jai's Weight - Week 13

Starting Weight: 217.5 lbs
Week 13 Weight: 185.4 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 32.1 lbs
Goal Weight: 158 lbs

Jai’s measurements for this week were 13″ on the arms, 40″ on the chest, 39.5″ on the waist, 38″ on the hips, and 23″ on the thighs. That’s .5″ down on the arms, .5″ down on the chest, .5″ down on the waist, and 1″ down on the hips, with the thighs remaining the same.

That’s 1.6 pounds lost for me and 1.4 pounds lost for Jai! I’m extra happy because this officially pushes me out of the 150s and back down into the 140s. I haven’t been this weight for over a year! I’m only a few pounds away for being in a healthy weight range for my height – the range is quite large at 5′ 4″, with anything from around 110 to 145 pounds considered healthy. With my small frame, I still appear quite heavy until I get into the mid 130s, and I feel at my physical best when in the 110s-120s; which is why I set my goal weight as I did.

Jai is continuing to do well, and has been going for progressively longer and faster runs. I have also noticed increased ability with my walks, and it feels great to have my knees hold up for longer distances. Nutrisystem has been a huge help to me in coping with this knee injury and, in a more indirect way, has helped me heal faster because of doing my physiotherapy consistently as part of the Nutrisystem plan. Don’t get me wrong, if I’d had it my way, I’d have been doing physio every single day since I got my diagnosis; but after months of doing that faithfully with slow results, I ended up being put in the difficult position of having to sometimes choose between work and physiotherapy. After the financial blow that I withstood because of my injury, I had to work overtime to try and get things back on track – and sometimes that meant I just literally did not have time to do the physio. Believe me, it’s not a position anyone wants to be in. But because of our involvement with this Nutrisystem program, I’ve been able to do physio every day, with the exception of a few “Sick” days. I know that this has been a big help in speeding the progress and I’m grateful to have gotten the opportunity at the time when I need it most. For anyone struggling with weight loss due to an injury like mine, I would tell them to look into Nutrisystem if at all possible for them. It’s ideal for anyone who lacks the mobility to cook and the hugest morale booster to be able to lose weight when it feels like your whole life is out of control.

Another thing that blows my mind about Nutrisystem is the fact that we have both lost weight every single week, no matter what. The consistency of the program is fantastic! We both did well this week, despite having a few “Off-plan” indulgences! In the last week, we each had two pieces of candy and several cocktails. Hey, these were for work-related projects, we had to taste them! 😉 The nice thing is that the program is very realistic, and while they urge you to stick to the plan as much as possible, it does allow for the occasional meal out or treat. It makes a lot of sense to me, because they account for the fact that real life will still take place while you’re on a diet, and encourages you to re-think your overall approach to these situations rather than taking a “Feast or famine” approach.

This has been very educational for Jai and also for myself. Although I’ve always had a good idea of what healthy eating should look like – remember, knowing the path and walking the path are two different things! 😉 – I’ve still learned a lot these last thirteen weeks. For example, when I was growing up, my family was very frugal and we ate out maybe once a year. So when I go to a restaurant, I realize that I still think, “I only do this every once in a while, so it doesn’t matter what I eat” – even though as an adult, I eat out a lot!

The other thing I’ve learned is that if I feel awful, I should drink a cup of water. Even on days when I drink a TON of water, I can get dehydrated easily, and now I realize the symptoms of dehydration are sometimes very counter-intuitive. Earlier last week, I work up feeling really sick and with a pounding headache. I drank just a little water and felt fine a short period of time later.

So we’re learning a lot, losing weight and inches, and gaining a great system and routine for long-term success. Over the course of last week, we had a few people comment that we looked good and they were impressed with our weight loss. I told you week 13 was lucky! 🙂

  1. Oh geez, I’m awful about drinking water. I wonder if my headaches have to do with dehydration too. I’m gonna follow your lead. Now back to you….that is so awesome that you crossed that threshold and you’re back below 150. You rock!

  2. Liz and Ashley – it really is amazing! I never would have guessed that sometimes I feel rotten from being dehydrated, because the symptoms can be the opposite of what I’d expect – like the nauseous feeling that I will be sick if I drink anything at all! – and it can happen even if I’ve drunk a ton of water the day before! Thanks so much for the support, guys! <3

  3. I love following your progress, great job! It is hard to remember to drink water. I drink more than anyone in my family but sometimes I feel like it’s still not enough. When I do drink enough I do feel so much better, so you’d think it would be easy to remember!

  4. I actually got a bad headache yesterday from being dehydrated. We often forget how important it is to stay hydrated. Congrats on your progress and weight loss!

  5. I’ve been trying to lose weight on my own and salads get so boring. You make it look more fun with Nutrisystem. It seems like they know how to make it easier on you to reach your goals.

  6. I am truly impressed! I have to admit, I’ve always been skeptical of these diet systems and plans but this program is really working for you! Keep up the great work 🙂

  7. Yay you both are doing awesome. I also drink a large glass of lemon water when tummy gets a bit grumbly and it isn’t food time and a perk me up. Keep up the great work..both of you!!

  8. I think that it’s great that you have both lost weight EVERY week, that’s when you know something works! I remember reading somewhere that you should drink as many ounces of water a day as what you weigh. It definitely keeps you flushed out. Great job with your weightlosses!

  9. Thank you SO much for the support & encouragement, everyone!

Terri – I know what you mean, I am very skeptical too. What I really love about Nutrisystem is that it’s exactly what I would do for myself if I had time, IE, just well-balanced food at consistent times in smaller portions. I was super impressed to see just how normal and common sense the program is.

Daisy – Yeah, there’s so much variety with the food that they send that it does make it a lot more fun. It doesn’t feel like I’m being forced to do something since I can choose whatever I’m in the mood for – like have pasta and cake when I want it instead of eating a salad and stewing, LOL. Once you get used to the smaller portion sizes and eating more frequently, it’s awesome. I thought it was going to be hard downsizing the portions, but after the first couple of weeks I got used to it really fast.

Tiff – No wonder I get dehydrated sometimes, that’s a lot of water! LOL! Although I do drink plenty of coffee too. 😉

  10. You two are sticking to it. I’m so glad to hear that you are working hard and reaching milestones. Dehydration headaches are the worst. They are so easy to avoid, but sometimes the day gets so busy that water is forgotten.
