Omron Pedometer

Whether you have a fitness enthusiast on your list or just want to get a jump-start on those New Year’s Resolutions, then I have a great giveaway for you! One lucky Contest Corner reader will win an Omron USB Pedometer, so read on!

Last week, I received an Omron HJ-322U USB pedometer in the mail. Since Jai has begun running again, I knew this would be a great gift for him – not only does he already use a pedometer from time to time, but he’s big on being able to track his fitness and he loves newer and better ways of doing things. Since this was the most high-tech pedometer I’d ever seen, I knew it’d be right up his alley. I had tucked it away in anticipation of putting it in his stocking, but a few days later, he made a comment in passing that inspired me to give it to him early. “I wish I still had my Android [His phone that died] so I could track my runs,” he mentioned, referencing the fact that his Android phone had an app that would log his walks/runs. “I feel a lot more inspired to go jogging when I can record my progress.” As soon as I heard this, I thought, why wait?! I handed him the box and said, “Merry early Christmas!” He was very excited!

So the Omron HJ-322U pedometer is unique in a lot of ways. It has a cap that pops off to reveal a USB port which you can pop straight into your computer to upload data to track fitness progress and set goals. This will all be possible via OmronFitness.com, their web portal. Jai was anxious to get started, so he’s been using this pedometer quite a bit. He’s impressed by how accurate the pedometer is and how it can tell the difference between walking and running. It displays how many calories have been burned right on the pedometer, and it customizes this number to your height and weight, which you enter while setting it up. He did sign up for an account at OmronFitness.com, but it is still in beta so he is currently waiting on an invitation so he can access the full website as it’s not up yet. So, we can’t really comment on the web-based features of this yet since he won’t be able to download the data off his pedometer until the site becomes available to him; but it looks promising and so far as a standalone pedometer it’s already been useful.

Omron’s HJ-322U USB pedometer retails for $44.99 and is available to purchase on OmronHealthCare.com.

  6. Hi Beeb, Just wanted to let you know that I received the pedometer! We had a few rainy crappy days and I wimped out on walking or running outside, but I finally set up the pedometer. Not sure what I did wrong but I am unable to upload my data. The pedometer seems to work fine, just doesn’t upload to the account I created on the Omron site.
