Holiday Gift Guide 2012

Our America

When it comes to buying a joint gift for a family, you want something that people of all ages will enjoy. Even better is when you can find a gift that will bring the family together, create memories, and maybe even be educational. Well, all that comes in one great package with the Our America board game!

Produced by Ideal, Our America: A Game For All Generations is a board game that will put your patriotic knowledge to the test! Designed for ages 8 and up and supporting 2-4 players, the game is played by moving around a board bedecked by state flags. The color die corresponds to 6 different categories of questions, which players must try to answer on each roll. The questions will relate to either “Presidents & Politicians”, “Inventors, Authors & Stars”, “Only in America”, “People, Places & Things”, “Government & History” and “States & Cities”. The goal of the game to challenge the players while teaching you facts you may not have known. This would be an awesome game to play with kids because it combines something educational with something fun, but make no mistake, I think the whole family could learn something from this! Jai told me that his favorite part of games like this is actually just sitting and reading the cards – he doesn’t so much like playing board games, he just wants to learn the trivia! But for those who enjoy the “Game” part of an educational game, I think you will enjoy learning as you play! 😉 This game received The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval in 2011, so it’s highly regarded as a great product for families. In fact, I learned something just by looking at the box – I didn’t realize that there is a state that still uses the Confederate flag.

Our America retails for $22 and is available at retailers like Walmart and online at Poof-Slinky.com.

  1. Sounds like a game that my family would play for sure since we love board games. Also, this game sounds like Trivial Pursuit which was a pretty awesome game back in the day.

    Thanks for sharing.
