From his work in The Police to his solo career, Sting is one of today’s most celebrated musicians. On September 27th, he released a retrospective compilation album looking back at some of his most memorable hits from the late 1980’s onwards. Sting: The Best of 25 Years features 8 remastered versions of Sting’s most memorable number 1 hits, including “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You”, “Desert Rose”, “Fields of Gold” (One of my favorites), “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free”, “Fragile”, “Whenever I Say Your Name”, “We’ll Be Together” and “All This Time”. In addition, this disc also includes a new mix of “Never Coming Home”, as well as previously unreleased live versions of “Demolition Man”, “Message In A Bottle”, and “Heavy Cloud No Rain”. And that’s what gives this compilation universal appeal – casual listeners will enjoy hearing their favorite songs, while long-time fans will appreciate this album for these new live recordings. With the holidays coming up, this album would make a great gift. In fact, I’m going to be tucking this disc in Jai’s Christmas stocking – shhhhh! 😉
