Wrapping up Our Third Month on Nutrisystem #NSNation

It’s hard to believe that we’ve been on Nutrisystem for three months already! The time has really flown by. And after three solid months, both Jai and I can say that we have lost weight every single week. Check out our video recap above to hear our thoughts on how life has changed since beginning the program in June.

Starting Weight: 164.5 lbs
Week 12 weight: 150.2 lbs

So it’s been three fantastic months on Nutrisystem! Jai hit another milestone this week – his 2.8 pound weight loss this week pushed him past the 30 pounds lost mark! Woo-hoo! 30 pounds in 3 months is awesome, I’m so proud of him. As for me, I dropped 0.8 pounds pushing me past the 14 pound mark with my loss. I love that Nutrisystem is there to support both of us in our different abilities. Jai is capable of working out every day, so naturally he’s done great with his weight loss; but even for me, with my mobility limited by my temporarily compromised knee function, I’ve still lost weight every single week, even if I was having a bad knee week.

Earlier today, I was reflecting on how awful the last few years have been with this devastating injury. When I got to the point that I had to use a wheelchair, you can imagine what that did to my weight. Even once I began physiotherapy and was slowly starting to recover, my mobility was so hampered that my weight just got completely out of control and I hit the heaviest weight I have ever been at. The beginning of this year was a very low point in my life, wondering when I’d be able to walk properly again and despairing at my weight as it kept increasing. What a change Nutrisystem has made in my life! Knowing that I can at least control my weight no matter what happens with my knee function has been immensely freeing and a huge, huge weight off my shoulders. And the icing on the cake is that my knee function is vastly improving! At the rate I am going at now, I am optimistic that I should be pretty much at 100% mobility by the end of the year. I’m looking forward to resuming my gym membership and all the activities I’ve had to avoid since hurting myself.

So this has been a very positive month for both of us! We’ve hit milestones and still had summer fun. Nutrisystem is all about moderation, so we’ve still enjoyed the occasional indulgence, like cheesecake at our family reunion or the cocktail I had on Wednesday night while I watched “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”. 😉 The key is to make it about balance and be conscious about the choices you make. For example, when I had the cocktail on Wednesday, I had it in lieu of my Nutrisystem dessert as it was the same amount of calories. This by no means implies that you should make constant substitutions that are “Off-program”; rather, Nutrisystem is just designed to be realistic and account for the fact that life will still happen while you’re losing weight, and it’s better to embrace that in a smart way instead of feeling deprived and then later over-indulging.

Other than my cocktail indulgence, we both kept to the program as planned this week. I drank a little less water than I wanted to, but I did encourage Jai to increase his intake as that’s something he’s struggled with the whole time we’ve been doing this. He really wanted to hit that 30-pound mark this week, so I urged him to drink up because I knew it would help. It did, and he met his goal!

It’s been a fantastic summer on the Nutrisystem program, and we are looking forward to month 4 and getting Fall off to a great start!
