Prize Description: Have you heard of Jelly Kellys? If not, Jelly Kellys were handbags that were massed produced in the image of the Hermès Birkin and Kelly Handbag. A portion of the Jelly Kellys were sold by Steven Stolman. He sold Kellys made of rubber in bright colors, that were waterproof. Stolman saw nothing wrong with selling these bags as he saw it as “an amusement, like a plastic Rolls Royce.†Hermès sued Stolman as well as other sellers and producers for creating counterfeit items. Not only were there Jelly Kelly Handbags produced but also backpacks, doctor bags, saddle bags, messenger bags, pouch bags, coin purses, checkbook covers and even diaper bags! Hermès not only went after the, “little guys†they also went after Boutiques around the world selling these items. The lawsuit has been settled and Jelly Kellys are no longer produced. We obtained our Jelly Kellys for the contest when they came out. Our Jelly Kellys are in the style of a Birkin.
