Le Rime Pinot Grigio Review

Le Rime Pinot Grigio

I used to not be a big fan of white wine. It wasn’t that I didn’t like it, but I’d mainly sampled bargain-basement brands and in my experience, had found that it’s easier to get away with the taste of an extremely cheap wine if it’s red. 😉 When I first turned 21, I had the usual trial-by-fire that all novice wine drinkers have where I was absolutely clueless as to what I should buy. Being forever frugal, this led to some….questionable choices. For example, during my first trip to France, I had heard legendary stories about wonderful wine sold at rock-bottom prices, so I was determined to locate some of this for myself. I ended up with a bottle of €1.50 white wine that tasted exactly like rubbing alcohol! However, as the years have gone on and I’ve actually gotten to try better-quality Pinot Grigios, I’ve developed much more of a taste for it and now quite enjoy it.

Well, I recently discovered a new white wine that successfully combines an enjoyable taste with an affordable price point, so now I can have both things! You may be familiar with the Banfi brand from past wine reviews. Well, Banfi Tuscany’s “Artist Series” boasts a selection of wines perfect for holiday entertaining, including the Le Rime 2011. This wine is widely available in US stores and retails for $9 – not so shabby, eh?

So how does it taste? Jai and I received a complimentary bottle, which we set about taste-testing. Yes, I know, it’s a hard job! 😉 Jai is partial to white wines anyway, and quite enjoyed this one; I found it to be tart but still smooth, with just a hint of sweetness. I served this with Nutrisystem’s Shrimp Alfredo and it was a divine meal. Who says you can’t dine well on a diet?!

Glass of Le Rime

Le Rime is a great wine for relaxing and enjoying with a nice meal. 10/10 would drink again!

  1. I have never liked wine. I taste it all the time and just can’t get past that dry or whatever taste. I’m hitting the wine trails with a blogging event this weekend, so have to pretend I enjoy it lol. Glad this still tastes good and is an affordable option for wine lovers!

  2. Hmmm…I don’t drink at all so… I don’t have any expertise on this subject but glad you found you enjoyed it!
