Reed & Barton Everyday New Silver Strands 45 Piece Set

The last time I bought cutlery, I was in Ross and found a fun set with cute, clear plastic handles that appealed to me. While it was aesthetically pleasing, it turned out not to be durable – one evening while eating dinner, my knife literally snapped in half! I thought this might be a one-off occurrence, but one by one, each piece of cutlery broke in two during subsequent meals.

So when I teamed up with CSN stores to review a complimentary product from Dining Rooms Direct, the choice was obvious: a new set of cutlery! After browsing around, I decided on the Reed & Barton Everyday New Silver Strands 45 Piece Set – I loved the design and number of pieces included.

Being solid stainless steel, I knew I wouldn’t have to worry about these utensils breaking during dinner! I love the classic design – it goes with any dinnerwear and is perfect for both casual use and entertaining, especially since it includes eight five-piece place settings. The 5-piece “Hostess Set” that is also included helps you set an elegant table, with one sugar spoon, one butter knife, 1 cold meat fork, 1 pierced tablespoon & one regular tablespoon.

I love my new set of cutlery – and I’m relieved to know that I won’t have any more utensils snapping off in my salad!

  1. I know what you mean about cheap cutlery: I’ve been there, done that, too! This set looks great, and it’s a good value, too!

  2. That happened at a friend’s house during dinner. The friend it happened to was so totally embarrassed and bought him a new set! I love the look of your new set!

  3. UGH! I think I’ve been through 6 million pairs of silverware! LOL Not literally, but it has to be close. Some of the all stainless steal ones look good, but they are cheap and BEND and then that causes breakage. I’m going to check out this company and see if I can order a set. We desperately NEED new ones but I haven’t bought anything yet because I am afraid to buy another set that won’t last!

  4. Wow, it sounds like a lot of you have this very same problem! Bobbie, this set feels solid to me – I have only had it for a short period of time, but so far I have had no issues with bending. My box states that the cutlery is covered by a 25-year warranty – you can always call their customer service at 1-800-343-1383 to inquire more about what the warranty covers.

  5. It’s funny that I came across this post. I was just telling my sis the other day that I need some nice silverware. I just don’t understand how silverware and get bent..but it does in my household. From the look of the photo, those look quite sturdy.

  6. I can’t believe you are teeming up with dining rooms direct. I ordered from them through shopathome of course, and the item was damaged and they said they would replace it and they never did. What a horrible company and horrible customer service. They have nice stuff but horrible customer service and I was thinking about orderiing a tv stand from another one of their websites beccause they are all owned by that csn direct but never again they lost my business for good.

  7. M.P, thanks for writing and sharing your experience – I’m sorry to hear that. I can only speak for my own experience with a company, so I appreciate hearing feedback from others.
