Duncan Hines Amazing Glazes Review

I recently reviewed Duncan Hines Decadent Cake Mix, a delicious new line of cakes from Duncan Hines. They’ve also introduced a new set of glazes to compliment these decadent treats, so when Duncan Hines asked if I’d like to try baking with their new Chocolate and Vanilla Amazing Glazes, I was all ears. After all, who wouldn’t like an excuse to make a delicious batch of sweets?

I’ve been on a serious brownie kick lately, so I decided to whip up a batch of brownies to use the glaze on. I adapted this Paula Deen brownie recipe – which I recommend, because it’s delicious! – baked a tray of warm brownies, and then set about garnishing them with the new Amazing Glazes. To use the glaze, you stick it in the microwave for 35 seconds, then shake it up for another 30 seconds. I used both the chocolate and vanilla to make alternating stripes:

The consistency of the glaze can vary – as you can see, the Vanilla came out a little faster than the Chocolate! The glaze can get quite warm in the microwave, so be careful and wear an oven mitt if needed. I’ve found that once the bottle is about 1/2 empty, it gets runnier and hotter.

I thought the brownies looked very pretty once they were cut into squares, and they were absolutely delicious! I usually prefer brownies plain, but this glaze was a nice touch of flavor without being overwhelming. I’ll let you in on a secret…I’ve been heating this glaze up and eating it straight out of the container with a spoon! 😀
