Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few months, you’ve likely heard about the hugely successful film adaptation of The Avengers. I recently received a shipment containing two complimentary flash drives based on the franchise for the purposes of review, and I was quite excited about it. I’ve been a comic book geek all my life, so these looked incredibly cool!
I received two well-known superheros in USB form: Iron Man and The Hulk. Each drive has an 8 GB capacity and features a nicely done figurine with a plastic retractable flash drive built into its base. I really think these may be the coolest flash drives ever! Not only do you have the practicality of the flash drive, but the fun of an awesome superhero sticking out of your computer. I think this is a fun one not only for adult comic book collectors, but also for kids, because you could feasibly use these as a toy as well as a flash drive. Bear in mind, the figures don’t have moveable parts or detach from the drives, so they are limited for play in some regards, but I totally would have used these as action figures if they had existed when I was a kid. In fact, I may or may not have made Iron Man and Hulk battle it out over my laptop after these arrived. 😉 Of course, it goes without saying that you should bear in mind age-appropriateness and the size of the figurines when determining what ages these would be good for.
As for the functionality of the drives themselves, they have a fast transfer rate and seem to work well. Iron Man’s outstretched hand almost blocked him from plugging into my desktop computer, but he still managed to connect!
