Broken Shed Vodka

Spirits make a great gift for the hostess, foodie, or anyone who enjoys a good cocktail. Indeed, with Thanksgiving coming up later this week, some of you may already be stocking the liquor cabinet in anticipation of family visits. 😉 Jokes aside, the holidays are a good time to relax and enjoy yourself, so a premium spirit may be on your list for both enjoying and gifting. Vodka is a classic and versatile spirit that makes a great pantry staple as it can be used in a variety of drinks. However, it’s true that vodka can get a bit of a bad rap, probably because we’ve all tasted those shots of low quality vodka that taste like rubbing alcohol!

If you’ve been put off before, then Broken Shed Vodka is here to change your mind about this drink. The name derives from its origin – the first batches were created in a literal broken shed in New Zealand – and comes beautifully bottled with a representation of a shed and the NZ landscape. They aim to create their vodka from pure ingredients, and I must say, it shows in the flavor profile of this drink. I poured a shot of this vodka and took a small sip so that I could best judge the full taste, and I have to say that this is probably the first vodka I’ve had which can be sipped. It’s smooth drinking and doesn’t burn the way most vodkas do; so if I can sip it straight, you know it would go great in a vodka-cran! Even Jai agreed that this was smooth and he doesn’t really care for the taste of liquor. Make no mistake, this is potent – it’s just not unpleasant! I would highly recommend this for both connoisseurs of spirits and those who are more casual in their appreciation but enjoy liquor that is easy on the taste buds.

A bottle of Broken Shed Vodka retails for around $34 – learn more at BrokenShed.com. A complimentary bottle was received for the purposes of this review.

  1. I just was thinking about 5 minutes ago about making a batch of Citron for the holidays. Maybe I’ll try this Broken Shed to make it with!

  2. I don’t do Vodka but know many who would like this as a gift! I don’t drink it as most taste like I’m drinking rubbing alcohol ha. Maybe I should try a high quality vodka?
