There’s nothing quite like that soothing feeling of wrapping your hands around a big, warm mug of tea. So when I was introduced to the concept of a mug that is specifically designed to be a hand warmer, I was intrigued. The Hand Warming Sentiments Cozy Mug line from Coppin’s Hallmark Gifts is designed to warm your hands and your heart with the inspirational phrases that adorn them. I was offered my choice of complimentary mug for review, and I decided to go for the “Find The Beauty in Every Day” cup. The mug is very attractive and a nice size, with one side of the mug designed to slope underneath the handle, allowing you to fit your fingers in the slight ridges and really get a good grip on the mug. The idea is that you can curl up under a blankie and clutch your mug full of hot coffee, tea, or cocoa and warm up those chilly fingers. Which probably sounds pretty good to those of you who are snowed under right now!
So, how well does it work? Well, they’re not kidding when they say that it will warm your hands. You will want to wait until your drink cools a bit before you clutch the mug directly, or it will be way too hot. Think about it: Would you grasp the sides of a regular teacup right after pouring boiling water in it? No, because it would be too hot and hurt your hands; that’s what handles are for. This mug is no different, and I think the design of it is meant to be a little extra conductive, which is good, so long as you are careful and don’t just grab the mug without checking the temperature first. As your tea cools, you are able to touch the side of the cup directly and get your hands cozy. It’s an interesting idea and a nicely made cup, so I enjoy drinking from it; I think it would be a cute gift for anyone who experiences chilly fingers!
