Holiday Gift Guide 2009: Toy Story Sing-Along Songs Review & Giveaway – 2 Winners!

Walt Disney Records

The Toy Story series has been beloved by children ever since the first move was released in 1995. And now with the re-release of the movie in 3-D and the upcoming Toy Story 3 in 2010, it’s a pretty safe bet anything Toy Story will be a hit this holiday season. And two lucky Contest Corner readers will win the new Toy Story Sing-Along Songs album, so read on!

My Take:

Toy Story Sing-Along Songs is a whimsical collection of music from and inspired by the hit movies. Not only do I think this would make a good gift for the little ones on your list – I know it would, because I recently gave this to an 8 year old for her birthday! This charming CD brings us 13 lovable hits from your Toy Story friends. Far from your average children’s CD, this album delivers contemporary music that will appeal to parents and children alike.

There are songs from all our favorite characters on here – the plastic army men bring us “Cadence”, while “Jessie, The Yodelin’ Cowgirl” is the Patsy Cline-style theme song from Woody’s galpal, and piggy bank Hamm brings us his “Pig Rap”. But this isn’t just kiddie music – with songs like “You’ve Got a Friend In Me”, a big-band styled piece sung by Robert Goulet, and “Strange Things”, a standout Randy Newman cut, “Sing-Along Songs” surprised me – if I hadn’t seen the CD cover, I wouldn’t have guessed right away that this was a children’s album. It’s truly perfect for the whole family! It also comes with a lyric book so that kids and parents can easily sing-along with these fun, wholesome songs.

  1. My son would absolutely love this CD. He would love Woody’s Roundup, You’ve got a Friend in Me, Strange Things, and much more. We just went to see both movies in 3D. So, he’s been singing all of hte songs for a couple of weeks!

  2. This would be nice for my son since he hasn’t ever seen toy story. I should prolly show it to him first before getting this for him, no?

  3. I think my son would get a kick out of the toy soldier cadences! My daughter would like Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl the most, probably.

  4. I think the kiddos would love singing the Jessie, the Yodelin’ Cowgirl. theprophecygirl at hotmail dot com

  5. You’ve Got a Friend in me either by various artists or Robert Goulet. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.
