How to Cook S’mores Without a Campfire in 3 Easy Steps!

Hershey’s S’mores: The Official Dessert of Tailgating!

S’mores are a staple at any campfire – I’ve written before about my fond memories of eating S’Mores while huddled around an open fire. Since I live by the ocean, I’ve been to many bonfires on the beach with my friends, roasting S’mores over a crackling fire. While preparing for a bonfire one winter night, the power went out in the grocery store we were shopping in, and my friend and I ended up picking out our S’mores supplies in the dark!

But of course, it’s not always possible to have a bonfire. The gang has tried some crafty ways of cooking S’mores indoors, including one resourceful friend who held a stick with a marshmallow over a stovetop burner to melt! Well, The Hershey Company has announced S’mores as “The Official Dessert of Tailgating”, and come up with another clever way of making these delectable treats, no campfire required: Also known as the “Build it, Wrap it, Grill it” method! Preparing S’Mores this way is as easy as 1-2-3. Simply assemble your S’mores, wrap them in foil, and stick them in the grill! Cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers to eat during your favorite football game? Then bring the S’mores along for dessert!

Time to Make S'mores!

Step 1: Build it!

Step 2: Wrap It!

Step 3: Grill It!

Next, stick the S’mores in a medium hot grill for 1-2 minutes on each side until cooked to gooey and delicious perfection. I don’t have a grill handy at the moment, so I decided to put mine in the oven on the “Broil” setting.

Bonus step: While your S’mores are cooking, eat almost as many of the raw supplies as went into the actual S’mores that you made. That’s not an official instruction, but that’s always what happens when I’m in charge of the S’mores making. 😉

Final Step: Eat And Enjoy!

Finished S'mores!

I cooked mine a little longer than 2 minutes, since I was using an oven instead of a grill, and I wanted them to be nice and gooey. Next time I think I’ll stick them in the toaster oven – I’ve done that before to make S’mores and it did a nice job of melting everything, so I’m curious to try it with the foil now!

Thanks to The Hershey Company for providing me with a box of complimentary S’mores supplies and instructions on the “Build it, Wrap it, Grill it” method!

  1. These look so delicious… I have made them in the microwave and they just aren’t the same.
I’ll have to try them in the toaster oven next time… thanks for the great idea. YUMMY!

  2. It’s been so long since I’ve had smores! We’ve done them on a camp fire as well as the microwave. The toaster oven sounds like a great idea.

  3. I honestly never tried to make smores on my own. They look pretty easy to make. I love the idea and I have to try it out. Thanks for sharing. Looks delicious!!!!

  4. 2 whole minutes?! That’s way too long to wait…lol, I make mine in under 20 seconds in the microwave 🙂

But when I’m setting a good example I have an indoor sterno fueled roaster that is designed for smore making, sorry I can’t remember what it is called but I heart it.

  5. lol – I *love* s’mores. It’s the ONLY reason I would ever have a bonfire.
    But.
When Its winter or I simply don’t have access to a bonfire – I make them on the stove with fondue sticks. I heat the marshmallow up just like my stove is my fire (even though I have a flat-top electric stove) they get nice and brown and crunchy on the outside …

They taste exactly the same as a real s’more minus the ‘fire’ smell.

  6. I love smores! I have been known to make them in the microwave with chocolate chips when I am desperate!

  7. Oh wow…@diane….I do the same thing. I use chocolate chips, tear the bigger sized marshmallows in half and put on one side of graham cracker. Pop in the microwave for like 10 seconds at first and then maybe an additional 5 afterwards so the marshmallow doesnt spread everywhere. Take out and put the other graham cracker piece on top. Very quick!

  8. Wow, that is awesome! I’ve never seen them cooked in the oven before. I don’t really like s’mores, but (naturally) my whole family does. Definitely going to have to try this sometime!

  9. now that is one fabulous idea. I love love love smores but we don’t have a firepit to do them outside anymore. I actually think I have all the stuff to make these tonight.
