My nickname is “Super Coupon Girl”, so naturally, I’m all about saving money at the store. I sign up for store loyalty cards any time they are available if I think they will garner me a discount or other benefit. As a result, I have quite a few cards in my wallet – I even collect them as I travel, picking up cards for grocery stores in Arizona and even England, so that I can save on supplies bought while traveling. I’ve saved huge amounts of money by taking advantage of store loyalty programs, so I keep all these cards around – even the ones for stores far away that I will probably never visit again – because, hey, you never know when they might come in handy! But my overstuffed wallet has seen better days. 😉
With this in mind, there is a new service called the LOC Card which aims to consolidate all of these loyalty programs into just one card that you can take everywhere. The concept is quite simple: The card will enable you to add any participating merchant loyalty cards to one consolidated account, allowing you to swipe just one card at checkout; and you’ll be able to manage all your accounts online from one website. Cards will be available for free at participating merchants, and upon swiping the card for the first time, you will be automatically enrolled in their loyalty program without filling in a form. If you’re already enrolled, then your card information will be transferred over to your new account. LOC Card hopes to be an intermediary with loyalty programs, allowing you to access the loyalty programs without providing personal information directly to the retailer.
The company just launched in October 2012 and is currently in negotiations with stores across the US – so you’ll want to stay tuned for more information on which merchants will be participating! i have all my loyalty cards on a nice little keychain. its a great organizational tool. except i can’t find the keychain with them on it. i have a feeling my 3 year old is responsible…
Very cool…without hijacking your post here, this is a huge source of personal contention. Sticking shopper cards, can’t live with em, can’t live without em. I need a consolidation 🙂
