Lysol Disinfecting Wipes

Can you believe that Christmas is this Saturday? Now that we’re entering the busiest week of the holiday season, most of you will probably be preparing your homes for guests. So how can you make cleaning for the holidays that much easier? With Lysol Disinfecting Wipes! Lysol wants to help you keep your home clean and healthy this holiday season, through their new Mission for Health program. And THREE lucky Contest Corner readers will win wipes for their home or children’s classroom, so read on!

I started using Lysol Disinfecting Wipes fairly recently, and they’ve ended up becoming a very useful tool in my cleaning arsenal. I had literally just used my last wipe cleaning the sink and was sorry that I was all out – and then Lysol emailed me and asked if I’d like another tub to review! You better believe I would! This latest canister of wipes did not disappoint, and is a multi-purpose tool for cleaning the bathroom, kitchen, and wiping down messes anywhere! The only thing I had trouble with was opening the canister – I really struggled with it, but I’m not sure if that’s the design or user error. 😉

The new Lysol Mission for Health initiative aims to encourage and help moms to do more for health in their communities. Here’s some more information about this program:

LYSOL® EMBARKS ON A MISSION WITH MOMS

The Lysol Mission for Health is promoting health in communities across the U.S. through the following strategic programs and partnerships:

· New Moms: First-time moms will be provided with educational resources about how to keep mom and her infant healthy with information available at OBGYN offices, pediatrician offices, on www.lysol.com/missionforhealth and other online communities.

· Schools: According to the CDC, nearly 22 million school days are lost each year to the common cold alone. LYSOL is empowering schools, through a program developed with a leading pediatrician, to teach healthy habits to children and help improve school attendance. The LYSOL Blue Ribbon School Attendance Challenge will reward schools for low absenteeism.

· Disaster Relief: LYSOL has partnered with Save the Children, a global non-profit humanitarian and disaster relief organization, to support the needs of families whose health and safety are affected by disasters.

With the help of actress and mother Cheryl Hines, LYSOL and Hines have teamed up to demonstrate and reward moms for things they can do in their community to help keep her family thriving.

“I’m excited to be teaming up with LYSOL because it’s a brand that understands my priority to help keep my family healthy, safe and protected,” said Hines. “Not only does the brand promote healthy living, they are also recognizing moms for making a difference. I love this about LYSOL because every moment as a mom is special, and they understand I am happier when my child is happy and healthy.”

In keeping with the Lysol Mission for Health, LYSOL is running the Mission for Community Health Contest* and is recognizing moms who do more for health in their communities by awarding prizes worth up to $10,000 to be donated towards local community organizations. To enter, share videos, photos or stories about how you made a difference in your community at www.lysol.com/communitycontest. Contest entries will be judged based on both relevance to improving the health of your community, and the possible impact of your community improvement effort.

Check out these tips from tips from Cheryl Hines on how to support health in your local community:

Getting Health in Motion within Your Community

Through the new ‘LYSOL® Mission for Health’, LYSOL is doing more for health across America by launching programs to educate new moms, teach healthy habits initiatives in schools, as well as partner with Save the Children® to support families affected by disasters. The iconic brand has teamed up with actress, mother and spokesperson, Cheryl Hines, to demonstrate simple ways that mom can take action in her local community.

* Gather your Girlfriends: Get together with your neighbors, friends or playgroup and make a date to volunteer in your community. Some great ways to get involved include starting a health committee in your local PTA group, cleaning up a local school, or educating children on proper handwashing.

* Inspire the Community: Share videos, photos or stories about how you made a difference in your community at www.lysol.com/communitycontest. It’s an uplifting way to inspire others, and LYSOL will award up to $10,000 in donations towards local community organizations. Entries will be judged based on both relevance to improving the health or happiness of your community, and the possible impact of your community improvement effort. Also, become a fan of Lysol on Facebook at www.facebook.com/lysol and post pictures of your personal mission.

* Donate Products to Teachers*: If you have a hectic schedule or can’t physically help clean a classroom, ask your children’s teacher if he or she needs products for the year. This can help stop the spread of germs at school – note that some schools may require permission in order to donate. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends placing disinfecting wipes in classrooms, and encouraging students and staff to wipe down frequently-touched surfaces and objects before each use.

* Be an Advocate for Health: You can be an advocate for health in your community by encouraging proper hygiene habits. According to the Center for Disease Control, hand washing can help prevent illness from spreading among your family members and broader community. The CDC recommends using soap and water, scrubbing your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds, rinsing well and drying with either a paper towel or air drier. Also, minimize the likelihood of spreading illnesses by getting in the habit of disinfecting commonly touched surfaces. Tell these things to other moms.

* Confirm school policy allows for use and/or donation of product. Adults must deliver donations directly to schools.

Lysol Disinfecting Wipes are available in grocery and drug stores and retail for $2.99, if you want to toss any in your shopping cart for your child’s classroom or last-minute cleaning projects around the house!
