Ever wanted to compete on American Idol? Well, now you have the chance to try your luck in the web’s answer to the hit TV show – PopStation. Hopefuls submit karaoke videos to be voted on by PopStation readers for a chance to win a “VIP album recording experience”. Here’s how it works:
1. Go to PopStation.com and register for a free account.
2. Each week, PopStation releases original songs for contestants to record. Visit the “practice rooms” to see this week’s songs, download their special software and record your own rendition. Different genres are released Monday through Thursday – Monday is Hip Hop & R&B, Tuesday is Country, Wednesday is Pop and Thursday is Rock.
3. Every three months, the artist with the most votes will be chosen as the “BIG Deal” winner, receiving an all-expenses paid trip for two to NYC where they will spend five days recording an album. The winner will be provided a with production and A&R team, and when the album is complete it will be featured on PopStation. For more information, check out the official rules here.
