Review – Calypso Studios S.H.O.P Totes

Calypso Studios are a neat boutique that offer fun, bohemian jewelery and totes with designs inspired by mother nature. They recently sent me an envelope of goodies to try out, so I’m going to be doing a series of reviews on their products. Last time, I reviewed their cute Harmony Bracelet; today I’m reviewing a fun S.H.O.P. (Start Helping Our Planet) Tote bag.

I’m all about reusable grocery bags. Not only is it a good way to cut down on your plastic bag usage, but I also love the credit I get at most stores for bringing them. So when Calypso sent me this bag from their “Grocery” collection by Lori Siebert, I was glad to try it out. The bag I received is the brown “Kitchen Utensils” themed tote, which happens to be stylish as well as practical – I love the fun, retro design!

The bag is spacious, and the product page says it can hold up to 20 lbs, although I haven’t tested that theory yet. The polyester fabric is thin, but seems like it would be pretty durable.

I tried this out while grocery shopping last weekend, and it did a fine job of carrying my chicken, and saved me .05 cents to boot. My only critique on this bag is that I noticed the stitching is coming loose on one of the straps. But I did like how the tote’s straps are wide – they seemed to sit a little better on my shoulder because of it.

My favorite feature about this sack is that when you’re ready to store it, you can fold it up and use the snaps on the bottom to keep it stored compactly until your next use. This makes it easy to tuck away -I think I should start keeping it in my glove compartment, since I sometimes forget to grab my reusable bags before I leave the house.
