Sergio Mendes Bom Tempo CD Giveaway – ends 06/28

Bom Tempo - Sergio Mendes

If you’re a Sergio Mendes fan, you will love this giveaway: One lucky Contest Corner reader will win a copy of his new album, Bom Tempo! Here’s some info on the album:

“More than forty years after his genre-bending – and ultimately groundbreaking – work with Brasil 66, Brazilian producer/keyboardist/composer/bandleader Sergio Mendes continues to borrow elements of traditional as well as contemporary styles from either side of the Equator and all points on the globe and seamlessly graft them to his deep Latin jazz foundations. ‘Every time I make a new album,’ says Mendes, ‘it’s a new musical adventure.’

His latest adventure is ‘Bom Tempo’, an album that represents the next artistic step on his prolific Concord journey that began with ‘Timeless’ in 2006, followed by ‘Encanto’ two years later. Borrowing from the songbooks of great Brazilian composers like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento and others (plus one offering penned by American pop icon Stevie Wonder), Bom Tempo expands Mendes’ use of color, texture and street-derived energy, highlighting his mastery of authentic Brazilian rhythms and composition. The Portuguese title succinctly captures the spirit of the music within, says Mendes: ‘This is bom tempo music, good times music.'”

  1. LOVE exploring new music & introducing myself to new creative sounds! Thanks for considering!!

  2. He’s so upbeat! Need that on days when I’m housecleaning and require some oomph in my ears to get the job done 🙂

  3. We listen to a variety of music and are always looking for something upbeat. I love the fact that Sergio has some great pieces that are CLEAN, upbeat and just plain fun. This would be great to add to our playlists and CD collection!

  4. As a middle school general music teacher, I feel that I could use this CD in either a Latin or Jazz music unit, if not both. I haven’t heard of Sergio Mendes before, but I would definitely be interested in having a listen and seeing how and if it could work in my curriculum.

  5. Hi Beeb,

Copy from Growmap. Didn’t know where else to leave this.

However, I fully support Leone on this. Either all go to moderation or you let all through.

Anything else just tells me that you don’t know how to treat folks. I know my mama would have grounded me for a week for using the excuse of personal convenience to throw others in the dirt.

Leone said on Growmap about your comment regarding “unfortunately there is no alternative but to trash some folks.”:

There is understanding and then there is UNDERSTANDING.

The key is TO TREAT EVERYONE WELL.

Personal convenience does not (or should not) even come into the picture.

In other words, it doesn’t matter whether there is a spam filter that is 100% accurate or not.

A professional business person, and/or a person who refuses to let others be abused in his/her name, won’t install anything that violates the principle of cordiality.

Even though I am not a practicing Christian or anything else, some people who brag about their Church participation turn right around and start throwing people in the street on their blog, in complete violation of the ethics of their religion, and they just don’t seem to understand that.

If someone asks the public for comments on their blog, and when someone leaves a heartfelt comment as a result of that invitation, there should never be a chance that that person will be trashed.

Beeb, if you are saying that ALL comments go to moderation, that is acceptable.

But, to have back to back comments treated differently is rude and a violation of every possible rule of proper social behavior.

We don’t slap one person and kiss the next indiscriminately, no matter what.

It’s bad for business, and it’s bad for peace on Earth.

    Leone

Hi Stetson – I’m editing your comment to leave my reply since this was posted on a giveaway. I appreciate you taking the time to comment; it’s not a matter of convenience, but sheer logistics. My blog gets hundreds and hundreds of comments because I run many contests, and it would take me hours to moderate them all.
It simply isn’t feasible, and since I’m unwilling to expose my readers to offensive spam messages, I chose to install Akismet. I let my readers know above the comment box that comments occasionally go into moderation, since no spam filter – be it on my website or on my email – is 100% accurate. I check the spam filter daily and have found that I get around 1 incorrectly moderated comment for every hundred or more actual spam. There is no perfect system, but this is the best one available to me. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. I’m old that is why I have loved Sergio Mendes with Brazil’66, and ’77. and then lost track of him. It is great to know he is alive and back.

  7. I’d like to win this album because I’m a longtime fan of Sergio Mendez and his music.

Serial advertising is something new and quite surprisingly, various outdoor advertisers
in particular are interested in such kind of promotions.
