SlimShots – Review

I’ve written recently about my quest to get in better shape. I feel pretty positive about how it’s going – I’ve begun taking steps to making my schedule less crazy and hectic, so that I’ll have time to eat properly, and I’ve also started hitting the gym more; in fact, I decided to take the plunge and hire a personal trainer to help keep me on track over the next couple of months. I think it will be an invaluable tool to get me going in the right direction, so I’m looking forward to our first session – which is tonight!

I’ve also been trying out a variety of fitness tools and diet aids, to see what kind of results I would (or wouldn’t) get. Our friends at FuelMyBlog had offered to send me a package of Chocolate SlimShots to test out, and I was happy to take them up on the offer. The package contained 14 “shots” – a liquid supplement that you take before meals that is supposed to control your appetite and help you eat less. Now, I’ll be honest with you: I am very skeptical of diet pills & potions. I didn’t expect this to do anything, but I’m always game to try something new. Now, SlimShots say that according to clinical studies, people who took SlimShots consumed less calories than those who took a placebo – you can click here for a full breakdown of the studies, if you are interested. However, the FDA has not evaluated these statements.

So what did I think of SlimShots? The first thing I noticed about them was the taste. It has an unusual flavor masked with overtones of chocolate, but it’s not unpleasant and it was easy to take. It proclaims that you won’t experience any jitters or “Embarrassing side effects”, and I am glad to say that was true for me – I couldn’t handle taking something if it made me sick.

I didn’t really notice a change in appetite while taking these. There was a psychological effect in that taking them reminded me of my goals, and I consciously tried to eat less because it was on my mind, and there is a value in that; but I didn’t notice my appetite being any different. It’s also true to say that hunger is not the cause of weight gain for me – my main problem is that I eat poorly and at erratic times. I am also a bit of an “emotional eater” and will eat things when I am not hungry at all.

The main eye-opener for me was that SlimShots really illustrated the fact that I have been skipping breakfast a lot. You’re supposed to take one shot with breakfast each morning, and for maximum effectiveness, take a second at lunch. I would realize that I had forgotten to eat breakfast because of the SlimShots, or that I couldn’t take a second shot with lunch because it hadn’t been four hours since I took the last one (the amount of time you are supposed to wait in between shots). This pointed out two important things: I don’t always eat breakfast as I should, and when I do, it’s often late in the morning – and it would probably give me more sustained energy to eat first thing. Out of the whole box, I only managed to take the recommended two shots on one day, and I often forgot to take it for several days at a time – so to be fair, it wasn’t an ideal test, but it was probably realistic; I know many, many other people have the same issues surrounding diet and hectic schedules!

I was glad I had a chance to try SlimShots out; I didn’t notice a change in appetite, but it was a reminder of my goals and pointed out some of the areas in my schedule I need to improve on.

Always consult with your physician before embarking on any weight loss or exercise program. This is an anecdotal account of my own personal experience, provided for entertainment purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any condition. Individual results will vary.

  1. I always wanted to try these. I don’t believe in gimmicks, but yet I always feel the need to prove them.
