Happy Father’s Day! To celebrate and wrap up our Mother’s & Father’s Day Gift Guide in a bow, I watched a screener of Snoopy Presents: To Mom (And Dad), With Love from our friends at Apple TV+. This special follows the Peanuts gang as they get ready to celebrate Mother’s Day. Everyone is excited – except for Peppermint Patty, who doesn’t have a mother figure in her life. She feels blue and frustrated about the Mother’s Day hype, but as she talks things over with Marcie, realizes the solution is to spend the day celebrating her amazing dad! While she tries to find the perfect Mother’s Day card for a father, Snoopy and Woodstock go on a poignant adventure looking for Woodstock’s mother – and even evade a few ferocious bunnies along the way!
To Mom (And Dad), With Love celebrates every type of family, and it actually had me choked up several times. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about a modern Peanuts special since I loved the 1960s cartoons and comics as a child, but they did a nice job capturing these classic characters. It’s a very heartfelt special – my mom passed away when I was 19, and my personal experience of Mother’s Day as an adult very much mirrors Peppermint Patty’s feelings. This is such a wonderful program for small children who have lost their mom – and big children – because of how relatable it is.
I really appreciate that To Mom (And Dad), With Love normalizes how every family is different and special, whether it’s a mom and dad parenting together, blended step-family, single parent, adopted/fostering, LGBT+ household, or any other configuration of family. And you can stream it with your own special family on Apple TV+!
I’m wishing a very happy Father’s Day to my own dad, and I hope that all the other dads and father figures out there are having a wonderful Father’s Day too. Psst, fun fact: There are a few items in our Gift Guide that are made by my dad, for YOUR dad, so talk about bringing it all full circle! 😀
We have Apple TV+ but I hadn’t heard of this special. I agree I like to original Peanuts shows, but it sounds like they did a good job with this one. So many have “untraditional families” that it’s great they are showing how that affects holidays and how the kids can be ok with it.

Snoopy is a cartoon from my childhood, so if my kids ever want to surprise me with something, playing some new episodes will definitely be the right thing to do.
Thank you for highlighting this reboot of Peanuts. I hadn’t heard it was launched, but it sounds like they do a great job of being inclusive to all. I’ll have to check it out with my family!
We have apple Tv too but this has not come out. I will have to search for it and watch. It’s a great show to learn more about family.

I remember watching this growing up but it’s a very long since that. Good one for my little brother though.
Snoopy is my favorite comic from the US and it’s been growing together with generations, from my parents to me to my kids, and I love to see that is still delivering and I will check it out on the channel!
