The Christmas Web Review

The Christmas Web

I know what you must be thinking. “Christmas, Beeb?! We only just got through Easter! How can you be talking about Christmas ALREADY?!” But hear me out. Every year, I say that I’m going to get an earlier start on my Christmas shopping. I’ve always been the type to pick up items all year round to tuck into my “Gift box”, but each year I have visions of entering extra giveaways over the summer so I can win fabulous gifts for Christmas and be all done with my “Shopping” before December even begins. Of course, this never totally happens, so I end up doing a scramble in December just like everybody else! So this year, I figured we could all get an earlier start, and it is with that which I bring you: The Christmas Web!

The Christmas Web is a new product on the market, a family-produced effort that was released in Birmingham, Alabama during the 2012 holiday season. Following its local release, The Christmas Web is readying itself for the national market in 2013, so they’re getting a head-start on the season by running a special spring sale for 25% off (More on that below!). So what, exactly, is The Christmas Web?

This product originated as a family tradition for the Grinkmeyers, born one year when they left a trail of yarn weaving through the house from their children’s stockings. The kids followed the colorful trails all over the house, which eventually lead them to a special present. They have continued this tradition for their grandchildren, and now they are introducing it for other families to enjoy with The Christmas Web set, a package containing three wands wrapped in yarn. Simply unravel the yarn and tie to a present hidden in the house, then weave your trail into a maze, dropping the wand into the stocking once you run out of yarn. There is also a special story & memory book included in the set.

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is hearing about other people’s special traditions and memories – some are fairly universal (Like giving gifts), some are regional (Such as Christmas crackers in the UK), and the most fascinating to me are the ones that are unique to every family. I love hearing how each family celebrates – and as the years pass, it’s fun to see how the traditions evolve as we get older, get married, and create our own brand new ones. I try to continue my mom’s tradition of baking mince pies for everybody, while I seem to have invented my own tradition of listening to Christina Aguilera’s Christmas album while I frantically wrap presents until 2 AM on Christmas Eve. 😉 I think The Christmas Web is an adorable idea and would be really fun for families – watch out, Elf on The Shelf, you’ve got some competition this year!

As I mentioned earlier, spring is the time to start buying your holidays gifts since you can save yourself some money and stress! Visit ChristmasWeb.com and enter coupon code SALE at checkout to receive 25% off! This product normally retails for $39, so by using the code you’ll save $10 and pay just $29. The Christmas Web’s wands aren’t Christmas-specific, so you can absolutely adapt them throughout the year for birthday parties or other fun celebrations.

What are your holiday traditions?

  1. I actually read about this in the Birmingham paper. I love it down there. 🙂 I thought this was the cutest thing. Still, it is a little early to be thinking about Christmas. 🙂

  2. We used Christmas Web this past Christmas and had SOOO much fun with it! We had a blast setting it all up and laughing all night while doing it and the kids really enjoyed it in the morning and were totally shocked!

  3. How funny! Am I allowed to think about Christmas when it is 80 degrees? 🙂

  4. I would love to do this as as soon as my kitten gets older. Right now she’d destroy!! We love Christmas traditions 🙂

  5. We share the same dream…..done with Christmas shopping before the season starts. You are absolutely right! It is the best time to buy. This is pretty cute, I may need to have a little look-see :0)

  6. I soooo don’t want to even think about Christmas!! LOL

We still have snow here so all I can think of is summer and warm.

  7. This is such a sweet idea! I agree…start your lists NOW. I have over 20 people on my “to buy gifts for” list, so if I don’t get started until November I’m in trouble!
