As a British citizen living in the US, I try to fly back home to England once a year or so. My least favorite part of flying is trying to sleep on the plane – it’s hard for me to get any shuteye en route, which makes a long flight feel much longer, as well as making jetlag so much worse. On the occasions when I do manage to get a decent amount of sleep, my jetlag is not nearly as bad. Part of what makes sleeping on a plane hard is how incredibly uncomfortable it is. There is no neck support, so you end up wadding your pillow up against the wall if you’re lucky enough to have a window seat, or if you’re stuck in the middle or aisle, you start to drift off and get awoken by your head jerking around. It’s pretty much impossible to rest your head comfortably on a plane! So the last time I was in England, I bought an inflatable neck pillow at Poundland (Our equivalent of a dollar store!). It didn’t offer that much support, but it did help. So when Cabeau, Inc. offered to send me a complimentary pillow from their travel line, I was very eager to try it out!

This thick pillow offers the most support and features that I’ve seen on a neck pillow. Its large, ergonomic design provides total neck support for the utmost comfort while in a seated position. You can actually lean your head slightly to the side and have total neck support while sitting upright! I have not taken any flights since receiving the pillow, but I fully intend to take this with me the next time I do – from the tests I’ve done wearing this around the house, I feel that this could make it much easier to sleep while on a plane, as well as increasing comfort and reducing neck pain.

The other neat features with this pillow include a carrying case, earplugs, a removable, washable cover, and a built-in pocket for your MP3 player! This is perfect for me, because I always listen to music when I’m trying to sleep on planes – it’s calming and helps drown out noise. I usually fumble for a place to store the player in a coat pocket or on my lap, so I love having a place to put it right on the pillow! My iPhone sticks pretty far out of the pocket, so I was worried it might be prone to falling out; but I actually forgot it was there and flipped the pillow over to take it off, and it managed to stay put. Just don’t turn it completely upside down or it will fall out! For just resting on a plane, I don’t think I’ll have much trouble.

As you can see in the picture, I wear huge headphones; little earbuds won’t stay in my ears, so I have to use old-school headphones. Since the pillow is big, it does interfere somewhat with the large headphones; the pillow covers the bottom part of your ear, which makes the headphones slide up – but as you can see in the photo, I can still make it work, although the sound may be a little muffled. Those of you with regular ears should have no problem with your little earphones!

The only downside I can see to this is that it’s big and bulky, so if you like to travel light, you may have to increase the size of your carry-on slightly (or just carry it separately as your personal item). It does compress somewhat into a drawstring bag that is included – I only tried this once, so I’m not sure how it holds its shape longterm, but the foam seems to bounce back. For me, it would be worth the hassle of carrying an extra item to get a restful, more comfortable night of sleep – you can’t put a price on reduced jetlag!

  1. This would be perfect for me since we travel quite a bit, since I really don’t like the travel pillows in the aircraft they are way to small and not comfy. This looks really nice and comfy, so it will work out just fine. thanks for sharing 🙂 It will be on my Christmas list.

  2. WOW! I need one of those right now, my neck is still in a bind. -sigh- This always seems to happen to me! Nice review though, doll 🙂

  3. We could have used this when we flew from Barcelona to South Dakota last year! Yikes 12 hours on the plane and no where to rest our heads. We’re flying to Vancouver next year, which will be at least 8 hours I think, so I think I’ll look into it!

  4. That looks like a really nice pillow! So many “travel pillows” are really glorified bean bags, so it’s neat to see a high quality pillow that will support your posture while helping you get comfy and not infringe on your seat-mate’s space.

  5. I have tried other ones that just werent thick or high enough to offer enough support! This sounds great! Although I usually only fly from Rochester, NY to NYC to visit my parents, a whopping 35 minute flight, I can definitly see myself using this flying elsewhere or even long car trips!

  6. I am interested in purchasing your support pillow blue I think the full price was 34.99 u.s. less discount. I live in Ontario canada. Can I do this
