One of my favorite things to look up on YouTube is cute animal videos. If I’m stressed out, watching clips of baby owls or funny gerbils helps to put a smile on my face. Since I watch so many animal videos, I had seen short clips of dolphins blowing bubbles before – but this video from SeaWorld’s Dolphin Bubbles blog was new to me. This three minute video explained more about the phenomenon, so it was fascinating to watch.
Recorded at SeaWorld Orlando’s dolphin cove exhibit, the trainers there talk about how these dolphins can create airbubbles with their blowholes, and shape them into rings that they can play with and manipulate – it reminds me of someone blowing smoke rings from a cigar. These animals are so smart, that the dolphins who have learned how to do this have been observed teaching other dolphins how it works so that they can get it on the fun as well.
