Holiday Gift Guide 2012

Artifact Puzzles

Grandma enjoys doing puzzles. During the holidays, she often sets up a card table with a large puzzle on it for the family to work on. So when I was introduced to Artifact Puzzles, I thought of her immediately. This company not only produces high-quality, wooden jigsaw puzzles that are charming packaged in a lovely box; but their puzzles are truly works of art. Each puzzle bears the likeness of a painting, ranging from the 11th century through to modern times. There is artwork represented from Van Gogh to Francois Boucher to current-day artists from Seattle. The puzzles not only replicate these amazing pieces of work, but become a conversation piece in and of themselves with the attention paid to detail and unique shaping on the puzzle pieces, often customized to the theme of the painting. There are some amazingly detailed pieces, from fantastic gothic puzzles to elaborate 16th century masterpieces.

Garden of Earthly Delights

After looking through the assortment of puzzles, I decided on the Christmas Story Codex Aureus Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle. Not only was I taken by the idea of a puzzle featuring 11th century art, but I knew that this would be the puzzle which Grandma would like the best. A Christmas story puzzle seems fitting for a Christmas gift! This puzzle is 266 pieces and is one of their more challenging puzzles, so I think it will be a fun one!
