Saladini Pilastri

If you’re looking for a nice hostess gift to bring along to those holiday parties, a bottle of wine tops the list for easy and appreciated items to bring along! If your host enjoys tasting new wines and is a fan of organic products, then they might enjoy a wine from Saladini Pilastri. This Italian winery is certified organic, and has a fascinating history: The Saladini Pilastri family have been in the business of producing both wine and olive oil for three centuries! According to the company, the family received their land and the title of Count Saladini Pilastri 1,000 years ago because they fought in the Crusades. Today, Saladini Pilastri are still known for their selection of wines. Recently, we received a sample bottle of their Falerio 2011 white wine to taste, and being fans of both history and wine, Jai and I were intrigued to give it a taste!

The Falerio is a dry, tart white wine. I generally prefer my white wines to be a tad sweeter, and Jai and I found that it began to taste a little bitter after more than one glass. That being said, it’s not bad and I think is best enjoyed in smaller amounts – I think this is more of a wine to be enjoyed with appetizers prior to a main course, rather than a bottle to crack for the whole dinner. For fans of tart wine, organic products, and rich history, the Falerio is a nice holiday pick – you can see that I’ve already gotten into the festive spirit with my Christmas tree wine stopper! 🙂

The Saladini Pilastri Falerio white wine retails for around $10 – learn more at SaladiniPilastri.it.
