Dr. Drip Coffee Review

Dr. Drip

As a coffee lover through and through, I live on this wonderful beverage that tastes great and powers me through my day. Sometimes it’ll be late in the afternoon and I want an extra cup as a pick-me-up or to go with dinner, but I don’t want to make an entirely new pot. Have you ever wished you could make just one cup at a time? Well, lucky for you, the doctor is in – Dr. Drip, that is!

Dr. Drip is a unique brand of single serve coffee that requires no special equipment – just your cup and a kettle. Each serving of Dr. Drip Coffee comes packaged in a cardboard stand with a built-in filter. You unfold the cardboard stand and place it on top of your coffee cup, like so:

Making Dr. Drip Coffee

This is an extra-big coffee cup, but it still managed to fit. Once the filter is in place, you pour boiling water through the top, let it sit for 20-30 seconds, and add more as desired. This mug of mine is so large that it holds 1/3 of a coffee pot (!), so I had to pour the water through quite a few times to fill it. Most people use smaller cups than this, so I think it would usually be faster to make a mug.

As for the coffee itself? Delicious! As I was pulling the filter off to throw it away, my hand slipped and I accidentally dumped some of the coffee grounds into my cup – I was afraid that I’d ruined it, but it tasted great anyway! I think this method of disposable single-serve brewing is really quite ingenious. It would be ideal for traveling, dorm rooms, serving to guests, and any time you want to enjoy a cup of coffee without brewing an entire pot.

  1. I love this! I even have the kettle so this would be so easy to use. I’m always looking for a pick me up in the afternoon and I never want to make a new pot either, so I usually reach for a soda. I think I’m going to have to try these!

  2. I have never seen these before but like Hanan said, it is perfect for camping! I like that you don’t have to brew a whole pot just for a cup of coffee (even if it is a large mug like you have!)
