Creepy Classics: Halloween’s Greatest Hits Review

Halloween 2011

Creepy Classics

My love for Halloween is well-documented. I love going all out with my costume, decorating, making themed food, and throwing elaborate Halloween parties. Before each spooky soirée, I compile a special Halloween playlist of music to play in the background. I have eclectic taste, so I include anything that seems like spooky mood music to me, from specific Halloween songs (Like “Monster Mash”) to songs that simply have an eerie feel (Like tracks by Moi dix Mois or Rob Zombie!). This year, I have another great disc to add to my collection of ghoulish grooves – Creepy Classics: Halloween’s Greatest Hits.

This super fun CD offers a collection of wonderfully atmospheric music perfect for any Halloween party. This album contains a diverse collection of songs, from Bach’s Toccata & Fuge in D Minor BWV 565 to the “Jaws” theme music. Listening to this record, there were a few points where I found myself wondering, “Why didn’t it ever occur to me to include this song on my Halloween playlist?” The selections on here make perfect party music and are appropriate for any Halloween gathering. Check out the full track listing:

1 & 2 Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565
3 Funeral March of a Marionette
4 Jaws – Main Titles & First Victim
5 Ave Satini – Theme From The Omen
6 Psycho (A Narrative for Orchestra)
7 The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
8 Danse Macabre
9 In the Hall of the Mountain King
10 The Ride of the Valkyries
11 A Night On Bald Mountain

Creepy Classics is available now on Amazon and iTunes – visit CreepyFunHalloween.com for more info. I received a promotional copy of this album for review purposes.

  1. we used to play spooky music for trick or treating when I was a kid…I think it was a record! Sounds like a good way to get in the spirit!
