My Take:

With all the electricity that we use, I was very interested to test out the Conserve. I decided to try it on my entertainment center, because that’s an area where I know a lot of devices suck up power needlessly.


Once we hooked it up and mounted it on the wall, I plugged my answering machine and cordless phone charger into the “always on” slots, while the TV and DVD were plugged into the “switchable” outlets. Since those devices are off most of the time, this seems like a great way to save power. I also love that the Conserve comes with a clip to keep the cords nice and tidy!
I mounted the remote switch on the wall, right next to the light switch. This way, I can try to remember to turn it off when I’m leaving the house.
I think the Conserve is a great idea – I’ll be interested to see if I notice any difference on my power bill. Either way, saving energy is always better for the planet!

  1. Makes life easy,turn off the power to multiple devices with just one click of the remote switch. I have my Mom who is a total care so the electric hospital bed ,oxygen and all the othe items like her TV ,phone ,this would help save money and help with everything plugged in

  13. My favorite feature of the Belkin Conserve, like many others have said, would have to be the Always-On function. I would also use this with my home entertainment center, and it would be great to be able to leave vital pieces of equipment, like my DVR, on when other non-essential items can be turned off.   20. My favorite thing is that it offers both options in one unit. You can choose which devices will be “always on” and which ones you want to be able to turn off when not in use. Great idea.

  49. Turning Everything off has been the biggest thing that has kept me from getting the energy saver products (which Ive really wanted to do) with the belkin surge protecter I can just turn off the Accesories till I need them and keep the computer plugged in. I love it!!

  50. I love how you can choose to put some devices on stand by!
    Things like your vcr/dvd player burn electricity even when they are not on………which means higher bills.

    I did not know they made a surge protector that gave you an option to cut the power to some of the outlets while leaving power to tohers.
    I want one of these so bad!
