Terro Fruit Fly Trap

Fruit flies are one of the biggest nuisances during summertime – they really “bug” me (terrible pun very much intended). Any time I set out lunch on a summer day, I have to be sure and cover the food with a kitchen towel until we’re ready to eat, so the flies don’t get to it. Yuck! They always seem to find a way in – so when I had a chance to try out a Terro Fruit Fly Trap through the Family Review Network, I was very eager to see if it would make these flies “Buzz off”!

My Terro trap arrived on Friday, and as I pulled it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that a fruit fly started buzzing around me! I shooed the fly, pulled the trap out of the package, and the fly zoomed back to inspect the trap. It was already drawing major interest from these pests – and I hadn’t even filled the trap yet!

The trap is designed to look like a little apple, which you fill with a liquid lure and set on the kitchen counter (or wherever you notice the most fruit flies). Right away, I saw flies landing on the trap. I noticed that they would walk into the trap, but then fly back out; I thought it was a little gross to see all these flies congregated on top of the trap, but not going in. I wondered how effective this was going to be – then I had a look at it this morning.

The above is a photo of my trap which I snapped today. I know, what a charming visual, right? 😉 Those little black spots you see are all dead flies – I counted 8 or 9. That’s just over the course of a weekend! I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. I’ve also noticed that the flies aren’t congregating on top of the trap so much now. I love that the trap is attractive and keeps the flies hidden and contained, unlike flypaper, which is disgusting to look at. I still have one or two fruit flies buzzing around, but given that I’ve only had this trap out for a few days, I feel pretty confident that they will “Bug off” soon!

  1. Every fall we get spiders…big spiders in the basement mostly. I’d like to try their Spider Killer Spray, thanks.
